It is a machinable hardfacing alloy used for facing the cutting edges of long knives in the carpet, plastics, paper and chemical industries. "Standard" Soonv 12 contains nominally 1.85%C, whilst Soonv 12 welding consumables to the AWS specifications E/ER/ERC CoCr-B contain 1.5%C (UNS No. 73042).
